Labour for Irish Unity public meeting 18th November 2024

Anyone interested in advancing conversations around Irish unity and raising consciousness of it here in Britain is invited to Labour for Irish Unity’s public meeting in The Wilson Room at Portcullis House, Westminster on Monday night 18th November from 7-9 pm. A very impressive list of speakers will appear on the night including Professor Colin Harvey of Queens University and the event will be chaired by John McDonnell, MP, a lifelong advocate of Irish unification. Full details of the panel that are participating on the night can be found in the poster shown below.

This is an important event at an important point in the political calendar, coming so soon after the British Labour Party’s annual conference and the fact that the next Irish general election must be held no later than March 2025 to elect the 34th Dáil. It is therefore imperative that all of the main parties contesting that election make the issue of Irish unification a core part of the national debate in coming months. Equally so, the issue of Irish unity and the possibility of a Border Poll at some stage in the near future should not be allowed to slip down the political radar in the UK. We must keep the conversation going and as such, Labour for Irish Unity invites anyone with an interest in this issue, regardless of political or national background, to come to the event and help move the discussion forward. See below for further details.
